If you are selected to be part of our team, you will participate in a paid comprehensive training program that will provide a solid foundation of job knowledge, firearms training, tactical skills, and physical fitness.
The Cobb County Police Department has its own P.O.S.T. certified expanded mandate school which features a rigorous 5 month curriculum supplemented with practical scenarios, defensive tactics, and firearms training. After successfully completing the academy, recruits will be assigned to a Field Training Officer at one of our five precincts where they will receive additional training in the field lasting approximately 12 weeks. Once this phase has been completed, recruits transition to solo status for an additional 6 weeks of direct observation by the shift sergeant.

The Cobb County Police Department offers a competitive starting salary of $40,014.28 and upon completion of an 18 month working test period, a raise to $41,614.02. We offer shift differential of $.50/hour for evening shift, and $1.00/hour for morning shift. We also offer a yearly Education incentive pay of $1000 for an associates, $2000 for a Bachelors and $3000 for a Masters degree. We have a generous Vacation/Annual Leave policy starting at 13 days per year accumulated during your first year of service all the way up to 25 days per year after 20 years of service. We offer 10 paid holidays per year and paid sick leave that continuously accrues at a rate of 4 hours bi weekly. Cobb County also offers a Free Wellness Clinic that is available for all Cobb County Employees and their dependents who have insurance with Cobb County. The clinic offers sick and well checks and many prescription medications at no cost to the employee.
